Reluctance to a colonoscopy or mammogram is understandable, but recommended screenings for cancer save lives through early detection and treatment. Many cancers can be defeated this way. In fact, screenings can prevent some from occurring in the first place. These cancers include cervical, oral, prostate, and skin cancers. Research shows survival rates are high with simple and routine testing, regular self- examinations, and common-sense precautions.
