Updated: Aug 28, 2019

On February 7-10, 2019 in Yerevan, Armenia, Bridge of Health proudly sponsored Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean (POEM) Group’s 2nd Scientific Meeting Toward Global Equity in Childhood Cancer Care, organized in partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Memphis, TN).
The conference attracted world-renowned experts in pediatric cancer from the US, Europe, and the East Region to the heart of Armenia at the Yerevan State Medical University to discuss the latest advances in pediatric oncology. Bridge of Health’s Executive Director Anahit Barseghyan was in attendance.
Bridge of Health is eager to support and elevate POEM’s important mission to achieve optimization in pediatric oncology diagnoses, prevention, and treatments. Research, documentation and the sharing of knowledge is key to medical advancement. Influential conferences like these lead to innovative ideas and inspire projects such as Bridge of Health’s life-changing Cancer Registry project.
POEM Group comprises members from 80 pediatric cancer centers from 23 countries. During the conference, about 150 representatives from 40 countries took part in another step forward for pediatric cancer patients. Guests of Yerevan visited the newly established Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia (located at the Hematology Center). Members participated in pre-conference workshops on palliative care and nutrition. On February 8, at the official opening ceremony, President of the Board of the City of Smile Foundation and spouse of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Mrs. Anna Hakobyan, delivered a moving keynote speech to all participants and guests of the conference.
Bridge of Health's sponsorship helped organize the event, including the opening ceremony and gala dinner.
The Poem Group Scientific Meeting is a thrilling example of bridging the gap.
